This is a gorgeously photographed piece of modern gothic which has inexplicably languished in obscurity. Susan plays the title role as a young blind woman shut away in a rambling old house by her father.

One day, taking a shower under the garden hosepipe in her frillies, Octavia inconsiderately splashes someone, changing both their lives forever. The poor man had only just escaped from prison, and after spending the night in the rosebushes a dousing in cold water was the last thing he deserved. No doubt he felt entitled to take a certain amount of liberties in return. Like spying on her stripping naked and drying herself for instance.

I know it's wrong to take advantage of a defenceless girl like this, and it smacks of low self esteem, but seriously, as you see in the second clip there's no end of tricks you could play on her:

"Here, let me help you across this stream" you might say, hurling her bodily into the water.

"Hey! What's that you're putting on me?"

"This blouse will keep you warm and dry, it used to belong to my grandmother" you can reassure her, filling in the entry form for the wet tee-shirt competition. Etc., etc.
