The 'art model' scene has always been a popular way of spicing up a classic drama with a little nudity. Zoe gives a good example in this adaptation of Zola's morbid novel as a young Parisienne not as jealously guarded by her artist patron as she might be. Our hero turns down her pimping-out on moral grounds: faithfulness to the titular married woman he's currently having a passionate affair with.
