A bit like a Polish Deliverance, this is the story of a bearded hard case and his oppo on a (somewhat implausible) mission to restore some Biblical frescoes for the vicar of a sleepy lakeside village.

Right away they get on the wrong side of the local half-wits, probably disgusted at the pair's pickup truck and other ugly Americanisms. When Dorota arrives sexual jealousy makes things worse. But in the meantime there are relaxing evenings to be spent by the lake. Hard Case is the one brave enough to suggest the first skinny-dip (I knew it would be him, he's such a hard case) and takes no prisoners. He even drags that small yappy dog out of its comfort zone (blimey the man's a beast). Later Dorota languorously drapes herself naked over the wooden jetty, only to be scared off by creepy yokels out punt-gunning in the rushes.

Unwisely Hard Case has been provoking the inbreds without allowing matters to come to an actual face-off. He's happy enough to confront them with menacing fists-poised stances (as if we're about to finally find out why the word 'karate' is in the title), but the nearest he comes to actual physical violence is impaling a man's hand with a fork.

Which leads to situations like this one. Dorota is packing her bags one night when Hard Case talks her into having sex on the kitchen table (by threatening to gouge her mother's eyeballs out judging by her look of resignation and despair - that's his usual style anyway). Crash! comes a stone through the window pane. Does Hard Case stride outside and throw the miscreants in the lake in just his underpants? Yes. Is Dorota happy about the turn of events? No.
