Reviews and pictures of actress Susannah York naked in "The Rollicking Adventures of Eliza Fraser" and "Images".
Susannah York

Born: 1939   Country: United Kingdom

Susannah was one of the major British cinema stars of her era. Her career went from young blonde starlet shedding her clothes on a whim (not very many clothes in those days alas) to brave lead roles as outwardly strong but psychologically fragile women such as in Images (1972) and The Shout (1978). Along the way she memorably took in a turn as Beryl Reid's lesbian toygirl Childie in Robert Aldrich's The Killing of Sister George (1968).

Susannah York from Images

In this unsettling psychodrama from Robert Altman Susannah plays a woman losing touch with reality. She is living in an isolated house in the highlands and feeling alienated and even menaced by the people around her. A couple of scenes here, the first where after some coy love-making scenes she suddenly encounters her self (or rather her body) stark naked on the bed, the second has that double again, this time in the shower.

Susannah York from The Rollicking Adventures of Eliza Fraser

From a colourful if somewhat flat and overlong adventure set in convict-camp colonial era Australia. Susannah in the title role has been shipwrecked and adopted by Aborigines along with her dignified old bumpkin of a husband. At the hands of the topless native women Susannah endures a standard tribal-daubing scene in only her underskirts, and a routine being-comically-menaced-by-an-indeterminate-aquatic-creature scene too, similarly attired.

The topless scene is a pleasant surprise. It seems Susannah, decked out in traditional tribal gear of grass skirt, face-paint and little else, is to be married to the King of the Savages in an epic all-night ceremony! Given her multiple adulterous affairs in the first part of the film the little trollop is getting what she was asking for all along, so her squeals of protest ring a little hollow. But protest she does, to the extent of streaking topless from the marital tent - only to run smack into an old boyfriend of all people. Good clean fun.
