A grubby and violent story set in 18th Century Poland from a director noted for his love of frenetic camerawork and copious shouting, screaming, and raving. Our hero is on the sort of journey where a lot of bad things happen to him, followed up by a lot of even worse things happening to him. Today for instance he arrives at an elegant mansion where the happy sounds of young girls' laughter are coming from the gardens. If he didn't know better he might take it for a finishing school teaching refinement to young ladies, such as is found in the better class of vampire film. The mature lady at the centre of the game of blind man's buff seems to be in charge; perhaps he could persuade her to remove the scarf from her eyes for a moment and engage in conversation awhile about the merits of this establishment?

To cut a long story short, the place is a brothel, and the 'lady' is the man's long-lost mother. Actually he knew that all along, so why didn't he let her know before all that screaming started?
