This dusky Javanese bombshell was one of the leading starlets of the 'seventies. She is most famous for the Black Emanuelle series directed (among others) by Joe D'Amato.
Laurette Marcia "Laura" Gemser (born October 5, 1950, Surabaya, Indonesia) is a Dutch actress of Indo descent, now Italian citizen. She is known for her work with director Joe D'Amato and Bruno Mattei, in particular, for doing a set of exploitation-style and Black Emanuelle films. In her first film role Laura provides the principal romantic interest in this attractive tale of a wholesome young surveyor starting a project on an idyllic Caribbean island. You can see the fellow trying to get some work done on the beach in the very first clip - only to be interrupted by a gaggle of dusky young maidens, including our Laura, cavorting in the surf and casting off the remains of what little clothing they had on in the first place. It's as if everyone's young nieces decided to take their holidays all at once. They may find it funny to splash water in all directions, but our man has responsibilities. What if some got on his theodolite? Putting aside personal safety he bravely wades into the water to divert their playful yet technically hazardous naiadic assaults. And not one of the little minxes has the grace to point out he still has his watch on.
Following directly onwards, clip number two shows that our hero may have had a motive for his daring deeds besides that of protecting expensive surveying equipment. He eagerly follows Laura as she sprints lithely into the verdant jungle, back to her traditional hut of woven palm fronds. You see, if you're too coy to take part in the preliminaries you'll never even be in the game. Laura is very devout in this film, wearing a pretty white bonnet to church on Sundays, and now saying a little pre-coital prayer at her bedside shrine. Later on her chums catch up with her, finding the situation worth an inane giggle or two, as is the case regrettably often.
In the third clip you can immediately tell the couple are getting serious; they're holding hands. Somehow in these films love affairs always progress from frottage and full-frontal nudity to holding hands.
The fourth clip has our hero back at work at the office, slaving away over his maps. Let this be a warning: if ever Laura saunters into your study, running her fingers through your hair and demanding a kiss, never bonk her right there and then on the desk without clearing the charts that represent a fortnight's hard work off the thing first.
We finish off with some carefree skinny-dipping, Laura free-diving across the beds of sand and coral. And to those who point out the inconsistency of the water not even being waist deep, well did you want to see her pubes in this scene or didn't you?

The premise behind this typical Italian comedy is that the young scion of a prosperous family, fresh from his studies at the seminary, has sworn off the girls for the time being. The vow seems to owe as much to shyness and natural inclination as to piety. This doesn't stop the women of the house 'having a go' at him though - it just makes them more eager.
Laura is very pretty and all that, and being a chambermaid is next best thing to a trained nurse we all know, but I'm afraid her little games here, peeking out from behind the bedstead after lights out, just don't cut it. She comes across not so much as the sultry oriental temptress as an attention-seeking pest. It's the insipid sort of thing a young niece might surprise you with. I'd start dropping some not-so-subtle hints if I was this young man: 'You have to be up early in the morning don't you poppet?', or 'Emma next door had dancing lessons for her birthday, what do you think?'.
But already the situation may have gone beyond hinting. Laura looks set to follow up the turning down of the bedsheets with a peep down the lad's pyjama bottoms. Saved by the bell! The maid's bell in fact, rung by the mistress (Gillian Bray) who's had enough of peeping in the doorway and reckons it's about time she had some of the girl's attention for herself. It's still early days for Laura's career, and when she's learnt a bit more about softcore erotica next time she'll rearrange the threesome so it's not the one of the ladies who's just watching when she really wants to get a man's juices flowing...

Travelogue-style pretension set in Egypt. Model Laura's photographer lover is an unsatisfactory sort who likes to pose her semi-naked amongst piles of corpses. And afterwards he drapes her in his jacket and beats her up, still less of a thing to be proud of (Laura is quite skinny so this is relatively easy to do). I envy Laura having a brave little chum like Annie Belle to take her side on these occasions.
Obviously this pair make lesbian love together at one point, but it's too anodyne to bother with. Instead we'll continue with the "transgressive" theme and join the whole gang at a party (that's Ziggy Zanger in the stupid wig). Laura is hypnotised into taking her top off. Given that she would have happily done this anyway (her inherent good nature and desire to please etc.) there must be something more to follow, and indeed there is. Laura takes up a ceremonial dagger and sacrifices a goat. Who knows where things would have ended if little Annie hadn't intervened. I take back the "brave" remark - this girl's a wet blanket.
The film has a happy ending: Laura and Annie gayly toss aside their clothing and walk off naked into the desert together holding hands. A truly heartwarming escapade, if a little short-sighted. I wonder what happened to them?

Tame Italian 'mondo' piece which boils down to a collection of stripteases and related hanky-panky supposedly taking place in exotic locations around the world, all hosted and narrated by the lovely Laura. She starts us off on a high note - by getting her name right. The single piece of factual information that entitles this heap of nonsense to call itself a documentary.
To be fair the opening striptease has a nice conceit. An intrepid explorer girl peels off her safari suit and slips into her sleeping bag in the nude (and yes she did remember to leave her pith helmet till the last). I've always wondered what going-to-bed routines were like in the jungle ever since I saw Virginia getting into her pyjamas in Tombs of the Blind Dead. Alas, just like Virginia our plucky heroine soon finds she has not chosen the most suitable night attire for fleeing from wild beasts! I can't understand a word Laura is saying here, but her tone is calm and reassuring.
So we come to the first and best of Laura's links. Rumour has it these were filmed by her Svengali Joe D'Amato. I can believe it: the shambolism that means this link is the only one of a dozen or so with enough pointless undressing to be worth including, plus the masterly skill in bringing out a woman's charm and beauty with a camera, says it all. Surpassingly warm and inviting as her smile is, I've never found Laura very sexy though. Her appeal is more of a favourite auntie. When you were three years old. And sleeping in a crib. And asking if you could wear your gorilla suit tonight...

Typical multi-part Italian comedy, this segment starring Laura as the girl of some playboy of the type that wears a hideous thigh-length brown bathrobe at all times other than for sex and the shower.
Today our hero has a new toy: a video camera. We cut off Laura before she has time to say a word of complaint about it and join the couple in the "lounge", where the camera has now been discreetly ensconced. Laura, before she'll dream of doing anything else, gets the drinks in, showing off her body at its skinniest and loveliest. Whoever taught this woman manners did a grand job. I'm even beginning to warm to chummie as well, despite his liberty-taking in the shower, shenanigans with the camera, and general aura of unshaven loutishness. Observe his use of the subtle lesbian seduction technique of the sofa-pat, and when he moves things to the imitation sheepskin rug he's considerate enough to allow Laura her turn on top. What a perfect couple.
The recording duly complete and ready for review, our man fiddles with the telly while Laura fetches the coffee. Then he jabs his finger at points of interest on the screen and this heavenly creature actually laughs and compliments him on his perceptiveness. Truly all's right with the world.
But hang on what's this?! It appears the obscene African idol perched on top of the box is broadcasting the signal throughout the building by means of its monstrously swollen phallus, and the neighbouring flats are receiving hot home-made porn instead of the six o'clock news! Ha ha!, it's a red face for Laura when the police are called!

Laura is the linking character in this steamy Venezuelan-set mish-mash. Jodorowsky's Holy Mountain seems to have been an influence on her scenes.
First up we have something set upstairs in - to avoid having to be more specific - a bric-a-brac emporium. I think it might be Tantric.
Later Laura takes pity on an older gentleman. As the pair undress the man reveals his wooden leg, and for a moment a look of revulsion threatens to pass over the face of the slim and dusky Javanese lovely. Showing amazing presence of mind Laura swiftly transforms it into an expression of demureness and exaggerated virginity, duly making herself available in the "ironing board" position. It's a sound lesson for any of us who can't afford to be picky any more.

The nurses in the flat upstairs are angry about the periscope our young hero has been using to spy on them undressing, and are now letting him know in the passive-aggressive way typical of characters in soft porn films. It's not the first time Nurse Laura has disguised physical abuse on this lad as medical attention, but at least she's only tugging at his nose this time. Her undressing performance is rather sub-standard (you have to freeze-frame just to see pubic hair, but blame it on the editing rather than the direction) but she gets away with it because she is, of course, a nurse.

Laura is chatting in the woods with her colleague Michael. He gingerly insinuates his hand inside her blouse. Outdoor copulation is on the cards. But do it by picturesque waterfalls and don't be surprised if someone comes along with a camera. As it happens, this is the least of Laura's problems. Caution: gory.

Late period Italian WiP-flick in which Emanuelle gets herself incarcerated in a tough women's prison for the usual selfless reasons. It ought to have a warning attached: there is NO communal shower scene, not even after the slop-pail catfight. However, uniform fetishists will be delighted with the management of the establishment. What a splendid pair they make, Governess Lorraine De Selle and Chief Wardress Franca Stoppi. Frau Direktor (as we've got to learn to call her now) even wears glasses!
After an arduous grilling in the Governess's office the new prisoner heads for the doctor's surgery. He's a handsome enough fellow, a little grizzled maybe, but considering the 'twist' at the end of the scene you've got to expect that. Laura undresses shyly behind a screen, and the doctor's examination is incongruously abrupt. You know what that means don't you? Yep, they fancy each other.
Things appear to be looking up in the next clip. That kind lady Frau Direktor has made Laura a nice cup of tea. But we the viewers have clearly seen her put something nasty in it. Luckily our heroine wasn't born yesterday (great idea for a prequel: Emanuelle Zero: Born Yesterday!) and tips most of it down the sink in only her pants. Unless she's shamming Laura must have ingested enough of the noxious substance to make her vulnerable to the predations of a senior army officer, the kind who is accustomed to treating women's prisons as informal brothels. Luckily he's the drunken 'breast slobbering' type and I think the lady escaped essentially unviolated this time. The experience was still enough to turn her stomach, sending her staggering naked to the toilet bowl; stop the clip a few seconds short to be spared the sight of Emanuelle's vom'.

A cash-in about the life of the Roman tyrant Caligula whose moral aberrations are too well documented to be worth recounting. It's from an era when even the cheaper kinds of Italian trash still came with luscious musical scores and creditable art direction. What these films lacked was any kind of common sense from a director like Joe D'Amato who insisted on filling his works with what even by sleaze standards was foully pornographic garbage. Naturally star names shyed away from the most orgiastic scenes and were left with little to do, as is the case with Laura here.
The first clip is quite a good scene however. Laura, vowing vengeance on behalf of a murdered girlfriend, determines to assassinate the Emperor in his sleep after first becoming his concubine. First step: sacrifice of her virginity to the god Anubis.
By the second clip Laura is falling into the classic mistake of losing her heart to the man she has vowed to kill. For all his sinister demeanour and thinly-veiled threats Caligula is a well-spoken fellow of the sort so often expelled from the better class of English boarding schools. I do believe our Laura is a good influence on the man. She's certainly remarkably level-headed and knows when to play her trump card; this plucky lass controls the notorious debauchee so well he gets through an entire three minute scene without perpetrating a single violent or perverted act.
There's more of the same in the third clip. By now the viewer may be frustrated by the lack of flesh exposure from Laura, and the limitation of her sexual adventures to the missionary position. But it's all part of her reform programme on one of history's most notorious tyrants. I've let the clip run on so you see that by now his idea of 'kinky' is acting soft with garlands of rose petals in the park. And anyway, like the whole world I love a love story, and when I get the chance of ending a clip on a beach at sunset I will always do so.

Another exotic role in a Joe D'Amato flick for Laura. You might remember her in Emanuelle in Bangkok getting a whole-body bubble massage from Koike Mahoco. This setup has a lot in common (notably the quality of the music), except this time Laura is the hired help rather than the star. Sad, but I suppose that's what you have to expect as you get older.
There are two clips here set in an opium den cum lesbian brothel. The lucky lady client is Andrea Guzon, at least in the first clip. Not so sure about the second; the photography is very atmospheric, ie. too dark. Laura's speciality is giving oral pleasure, but I was surprised to see in the second clip that as a penisless woman she also favours the active role in the missionary position. I'm not sure how it works, but watching her carefully measured pelvic thrusts is undeniably stimulating.
